Git is a free and open-source distributed version control system designed to handle everything from small to very large projects with speed and efficiency. Git is easy to learn and has a tiny footprint with lightning-fast performance. Currently one of the most used shell.
Take a look at the foundations of Git. If you haven’t read that yet, I suggest you check that out!
In this tutorial I will show you how to install Git on windows. To install the GIT we need to navigate to Git official website.
From the page select the download button and or you can select the right hand side button. Select operating system.
Open File from explorer
After download the program open the exe file as admin.
It will show the following license. Click next to move forward.
Keep all the setting as it now and press next.
Now it will show option for default editor which is vim. But you can change it as you like. For me I will select Visual Studio Code Editor as my default editor.
Note: You need to install Visual Studio Code before install Git.
You can check how to install visual studio code on windows.
This part is important because adjusting PATH environment. It will allow to communicate with system. select the second option it allow to access the git bash by other software.
Keep all the other option as default and install the Git. You can find an icon in your desktop open it. You will see the bash terminal like this.
