How to solve any problem?
Solving a problem isn’t easy. It takes many efforts to find out the best solution for a specific problem so that we can save both our time and energy. There are four steps to ensure the best decision. These four steps are as followed:
- Identify the problem
- Analyze the problem
- Generating alternatives
- selecting the best option
- Execute the decision.
Identify the problem:
The first step to approach in solving a problem is to identify what the problem is. Make sure you identify the problem preciously before you start.
Analyze the problem:
Before continuing toward the solution, you must understand what is involved in the problem. It includes understanding the knowledge base of the person or machine for whom you are solving it. Before solving the problem, you must know the subject well. The best way to analyze the problem is to ask yourself some question using why, how, whom, when, where, what, which, etc.
Generating alternatives and selecting the best option:
You make a list of the alternative that can help you with this problem. You can discuss the solution with other people to find out the best solution. Before selecting the best one, you need to identify and evaluate the pros and cons of each possible solution.
Execute the decision:
To execute or test a solution means to check its result to see if it’s correct, and see if it satisfies the need. If the result is unsatisfactory or incorrect, then the problem solver must review the list of instructions to see whether those are correct. Or else start the process from the beginning.
If any of these four steps are not completed well, the results may be less than what you desired. Most of the people use them without even knowing it. By going through these steps, the problem solver can be quickly assured that he/she has arrived at the best possible solution and will achieve the desired result.
Here is a real-life scenario
Your daily used Desktop PC suddenly shuts down. When you try to start your PC again, it won’t start. To find out the best solution for this problem, you need to follow those above steps.
Identify the problem: PC won’t start.
Analyze the problem: The reason can be many things. You just list it.
- It can be the power supply
- It can be the motherboard
- It can be heating issues
- It can be loss of power connection
And so many.
Generating alternatives and selecting the best option: From the above list of problems, you can now find the best solution. Now try to find the pros and cons of the analyze list. And find out which one satisfies the best.
Here, the power supplier is the main problem that satisfies the most.
Execute the solution: Try a new power supplier and solve the problem. What if that won’t help to solve the problem, then choose another best alternative and apply it until you find your desired result.
If we follow those steps we can solve any problem in our daily life.
